Volunteer at PAIR's 4th Annual Career Carnival!
Calling all passionate professionals! We’re looking for volunteers to teach refugee teenagers about their jobs in a fun and educational carnival-themed event. At an exhibit booth, share information about your profession and award students with tickets to redeem for prizes and food!
The event will take place on Wednesday, July 29th from 5-7pm at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church Gethsemane (6856 Bellaire Blvd); mark your calendars!
Why is PAIR hosting this event?
Most refugee and newcomer students are unaware of the plethora of career possibilities that exist in Houston. This event will expose them to different jobs they could pursue in the future, explain the educational path needed to obtain these careers, and demystify the actual day-to-day activities of these jobs. The carnival theme is just to make it fun - decorations are on us!
What will I be doing?
You will act as a job exhibitor with a booth to educate students on your profession. You will present some kind of educational activity (equipment demonstration, simulation, short quiz/presentation, game). If students participate in the activity or answer questions about what they learned correctly, you will award them tickets. We encourage you to be creative and come up with your own activity, but we are happy to help brainstorm if you need ideas (your activity doesn't necessarily have to be carnival-themed). The more hands-on and interactive, the better. Any props, candy/snacks, or company merch you bring is greatly appreciated!
How do I Sign up?
Please fill out the Air Table form before July 10th to participate. If you have questions, reach out to volunteers@pairhouston.org or call 713-771-1111. We can’t wait to see you there!
