Refugee Students in Houston (4).png

PAIR's mission is to empower refugee youth to navigate American society, reach their academic potential, and become community leaders.

By developing the potential within each student, Houston's refugee youth will become positively adjusted, self sufficient, engaged members of our community.

Less than 1% of the total number of refugees worldwide are accepted into the U.S every year. Participants come from all over the world! They are refugees- newcomers to Houston who have escaped war and persecution in their home country. For many of our students, arrival in the U.S. has created the new and unexpected possibility of receiving secondary education and higher education.

At the core of PAIR's efforts is the resolution to bridge the educational gap and foster economic mobility. PAIR programs improve the lives of young refugees as they face the great challenges of learning a new language and adapting to a new way of life. Mentoring, tutoring, college access, and leadership development programs supported by committed volunteers and partnering organizations build relationships, boost achievement, open doors, and inspire success.

Welcoming refugees into our hearts and our community is a reflection of the highest American values: compassion, generosity, and service to vulnerable peoples. Through education, refugee youth have full access to all the new opportunities America opens for them. With your support, these newcomers will make valuable contributions to the growth and success of Houston and the nation, helping create a diverse and vibrant community with a skilled workforce and engaged citizens.
